Week 1 Journal Assignment

Respond to two or three readings for the week; this week includes Trickster Tales, Phillis Wheatley, Countee Cullen, Sonia Sanchez, and Edgar Allan Poe, among others. Your responses may be responses to what you may have read in preparation for class, or responses to class discussions regarding the literature, or your life experiences that relate to the literature, e.g. Try not to discuss author information -- instead, focus on the literature, the stories, the poems.
